CHECK YOUR SUNGLASSES…everyone looks at life differently. Everyone has their own method of viewing what goes on around them. The interesting thing is that two people can view the same situation totally differently. We all know people who are "upbeat and enthusiastic". We all know people who are "negative and grumpy". It's easy to judge others… it's easy to categorize someone else because all we see is the outside view… who they are being. So why are some people more positive than others? Answer: It's the filters they use.
Look at these questions…Who are you being? It all boils down to one simple question… what color sunglasses are you wearing? Sunglasses are designed to filter out unwanted sunrays. The "mental sunglasses" you are wearing will determine how you view things. The sunglasses of your mind will filter out unwanted thoughts and reactions. What color are your sunglasses… are they rosy or brown? Salespeople who have rosy colored lenses see things differently than those who have brown lenses. Their sunglasses filter out the bad and only let in the good.
Here is your ACTION STEP… everyone uses filters including all Salespeople. What filters do you have in place? How do you react when?…
YOUR STUFF HAPPENS (good and bad)…
1. That deal you are working on falls apart
2. You get interrupted in the middle of your lead generation time
3. A friend/relative buys from someone else
4. Your sales volume slows down for three weeks in a row
5. The weigh scale tells you that you are moving in the wrong direction
6. Someone you dislike has a great month
7. A peer who's in trouble asks you for help
8. Someone who's close to you is negative most of the time
It all boils down to Mindset. With a positive mindset you can take on almost anything. You can handle rejection more readily (it still hurts but it doesn't hurt nearly as long). You can handle success more realistically (you celebrate your victory and move on…it's what you expected anyway). The things that happen to you also happen to everyone else. The challenges you face day to day are no different than what goes on in everyone else's lives. Protect yourself by wearing the right colored sunglasses. Filter out the unwanted… everything that happens around you isn't always rosy. The important thing is–how you view it should always be rosy! NO Excuses.
