Do you ever walk into your office and look at the sales board and see all the sales that are up there, and your name’s not on the list?!!! Frustrating, isn’t it? We’ve all been through it, right?
Well, here’s an expression that explains why you shouldn’t even be looking at this board ever again…
Comparison is the thief of joy.
WHY? Because it doesn’t matter what everybody else is doing, it only matters what you’re doing.
From now on just compare yourself to you. You’re the only person that matters. Simply figure out what your targets are and then compare your results to those targets on an ongoing basis.
Do it monthly. The important thing is to make sure that your results and your targets match at the end of each month.
So no more comparing yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of joy. Be joyful because you’re working hard and getting results. I know this will work for you. Have fun! NO Excuses. Bruce

Quick Question…what other techniques do you use to stay mentally UP?
Love this!
My pleasure Adrienne…it’s all part of our “keep your eyes on the prize” approach. Keep up the great focus on your consistency, you are winning! BK
Great stuff Bruce it helps to keep our spirits high and the ” juices flowin'””.
Thanks
Hi Mike…sure good to connect with the Sarnia Chapter of the “Never Stop Growing Club”. Hope all goes well. All the best for 2016. BK
I have always hated looking at the sales board and comparing myself to other agents, in fact, I will go out the back door of the office so I don’t have to look at it. I tell my team almost every time we meet, let’s not compare our results to the rest of the office, how are we doing based on our goals?
Thanks Bruce!
Perfect Mark…and that’s why you are always ahead of last year’s production. Thanks for being such a Coachable client (& a successful one too!). You are building a terrific team. Congrats. BK
Sorry Bruce, but I actually get motivated by the sales board. If most of the people I believe to be my equal (in listing and sales production) are doing well but I am not, then I try to understand why. One or two doing better can simply be that fortune is favoring them this month. If they are all out performing me then I had better take a look at what they are doing that I am not. It almost always comes down to the person in the mirror. I will then hit the reset button, get my head back in the game and in no time business starts to flow again.
Most people in a sales environment will be surrounded by three groups, the “top producers”, the “steady Eddies” and the “people just happy not to be at home”. I like to think of myself as a “steady Eddie” on his way to becoming a “top producer”. Paying attention to the sales board is my way of giving myself a kick in the rear when I fall off track.
I always enjoy watching your videos and it was a pleasure meeting you in Ottawa.
Perfect David…everyone gets motivated differently. For you, it works 180 degrees the other way and that’s okay. Here’s a terrific read for you to peruse to see the whole picture from all sides. It’s called “Get Motivated” by Tamara Lowe. She explains the various ways we are all motivated…enjoy. Thanks for staying in touch. BK
Great
You bet Ram…thanks for following. Let me know if ever you have any QQQs. BK
