THAT WAS EASY… we've all had fun at the Staples store pushing the big red "Easy" button and hearing it say the magic words… "that was easy". It's a great marketing tool and no doubt it has served Staples very well. The truth is as we all know, the real world isn't "easy". We all can dream about winning the lottery… but the truth is there are really are not any Short Cuts, are there? As a matter of fact, we are much better to operate under the credo that says, "if it seems too good to be true it probably is".
Here is your ACTION STEP…lots of people are in a Dreamworld. They keep looking for the magic pill. The chances of an easy sale are small and by waiting for that to happen you greatly diminish your ability to do the REAL WORK. It's fun to dream but the fact is that:
1. Oprah is probably not going to endorse your book
2. It is unlikely that you will ever win the lottery
3. Warren Buffett isn't going to call
4. That hot "stock tip" isn't all that hot
Great Salespeople do the REAL WORK every day, all day…day in and day out. When we try to find an easy way, when we try to cut corners, when we look for shortcuts…we get burned. So do yourself a favour, do your job every day and periodically something unexpected will come your way. And when it does… you will have earned it…not because you 'got lucky'! NO Excuses.
