Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was a tough boss. There is a great story about one of his employees bringing a report for his approval and Kissinger asked him… “Is this the best you can do?”
The employee answered, “Well Sir – there are a couple of things I might be able to add to it”. Henry replied, “Go back and do that and then come back and see me”.
6 more times, the Secretary of State asked the same question… “Is this the best you can do?”.
The exhausted employee finally responded… “Yes Sir, this is the best I can do”. At which point, Kissinger smiled and said… “Very well, now I will read it”.
What areas can you raise the bar in your real estate sales business? Ask yourself the “best you can do?” question when you are:
— Asking for a referral
— Setting an appointment… etc., etc., etc.
IS THIS THE BEST YOU CAN DO?
If it is then move forward. If it isn’t – don’t compromise. Pretend you are talking to Mr. Kissinger and be able to say YES to his question. Be the best you can be and… do the best you can do. NO Excuses.
