Quick question: how do you feel about the rejection you get every single day in real estate sales? Isn’t it frustrating sometimes? You do all the right things and you still get rejected. Somebody decides to list with their neighbour, or someone decides to go with an agent who you feel isn’t close to your skill level. It’s tough to take, isn’t it?
I ran into a great solution for all this recently at our 2 Day Success Workshop, which is a two-day program we run. One of the attendees walked up to me at a break, her name is Deanna, and said, “Bruce, have a look at this.” She handed me a piece of paper on which was written these 4 letters…QTIP. I asked, “Deanna, okay, what’s this?” She replied, “It’s an acronym…QTIP.” I said, “What’s the acronym ?” She said, “Quit taking it personally.” I love it.
Think about this. Every time you get rejected and you feel yourself tense up (we’ve all done it, right?) use this #1 Sales acronym. Just say to yourself, “QTIP. QTIP. QTIP.“
That will remind you to quit taking it personally, because frankly it isn’t personal. Whatever your customers or your prospects have done, they’re looking after themselves, they’re not worrying about you.
So I just want to remind you to use the QTIP metaphor. Next time you get rejected, just say QTIP and move on to your next opportunity. NO Excuses.
Question: share your favourite acronym with us. What’s one you use to get over the “bumps in the road”? Leave a comment below.
Great acronym to have in your tool bag! I don’t have an acronym, I just say to myself “to bad they don’t know what a great agent they just missed” NEXT!!!
Good man Michael. It’s a terrific attitude to have. As a Coaching Client I do know how far you’ve come (and quickly too). Keep on growing. Looking forward to sharing more great ideas with you at our “2 Day Success Workshop” in Vaughan on June 8th & 9th.
SW. SW. SW? N!
Some Will.
Some Won’t.
So What?
