LET’S BE CLEAR… as Salespeople sometimes the number of activities that are going on during the day can confuse the main issue. It's easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment and forget this basic question… "What is my job?".
Have a look at these three absolutes:
- Leaders lead
- Writers write
- Salespeople SELL!
Do you ever get so busy "putting out fires" during the day that you forget your Job Description? If you are a Salesperson your job is to sell things to people. The way you do that is contact potential Clients, find out their needs, present your product, help them, and close. That's it… nothing else. Push distraction aside. Stay focused on that.
Here is your ACTION STEP… there are several ways to remind yourself of what you need to accomplish each day. Ask yourself these 4 questions two or three times during each day:
- Who can I talk to today that can help me make money this week?
- Who are my Top Leads and have I called them exactly when I said I was going to?
- Am I trying to be "all things to all people"? Usually a mistake. Who/what should be put on the "back burner"?
- Am I sticking to my routine/my daily schedule so far today? Am I in control or am I in react mode?
General George Patton had a great mantra…. "You need to overcome the tug of people against you as you reach for high goals". How well do you do this? Ask yourself the above 4 questions on an ongoing basis every day. Remember, when you look after yourself first, you do a much better job of looking after the people who really need you. That’s not being selfish, that’s being committed. NO Excuses.
