Need Help Staying on Schedule? – Oct. 7, 2010

THE SUCCESS CORNER…by far the biggest challenge in Selling is to generate consistent results. The best way to do that of course is to Stick to Your Schedule. There is an old adage in life about being careful not to "paint yourself into a corner". The implication is that once you have done that… you are stuck and can't get out. What if you looked at it another way: what if the corner you painted yourself into was a "Success Corner"? What if you set up your day so that you had no alternative but to STAY ON SCHEDULE?

Here is your ACTION STEP… the first step is to have a firm Daily Schedule. The next step is to follow it every day. "So how do I do that, Bruce?", you ask. Here are some of my Top Time Management Tips:

1. Prepare for the next day… the night before.
2. Critical Point #1: get up at the same time every morning (regardless what time you went to bed!).
3. Do the most difficult tasks first. Get them out of the way before the "Excuse Family" arrives.
4. Critical Point #2: Eliminate All the Options… say NO to every possible interruption.
5. Commit to Growth and Accountability… get someone to hold your "feet to the fire (how about an experienced Coach with proven results?).
If you are truly committed to "painting yourself into a Success Corner" then pay special attention to #5 above.
