Keeping Your Priorities Visible

THE LOST TICKETS… a friend of mine recently told me a rather humorous (and slightly painful) story about not keeping important items highly visible. Many years ago he had purchased two concert tickets to see Tom Jones perform. These tickets were proudly displayed on a bulletin board in the kitchen in his home. At some point his wife suggested that they were "in the way and should be taken down and placed in a drawer". After considerable debate… he lost the argument and they were put in in the drawer beneath the bulletin board. Well you can guess the rest of the story… when they finally came across the tickets, Tom Jones had come and gone about two weeks earlier. They missed the concert! Something that was important was not visible and as a result did not receive the attention it deserved….and was overlooked. 

Here is your ACTION STEP… as Salespeople we need to make sure we keep the most important things in our personal and business lives… HIGHLY VISIBLE. On the wall where you can see them! Here are some examples: 

1. Your Personal Goals… do you have a Dream board? 

2. Your Sales Targets for this month 

3. A list of your top sales leads 

4. A "Year at a Glance" Calendar highlighting planned vacation time 

5. Your favourite scripts right by the phone on the wall 

Be sure you don't lose your "tickets in a drawer". Create an environment where all the important things can be seen every day. Never lose sight of what you are doing and why you are doing it. This will make you highly focused and highly successful! NO EXCUSES!
