THE SNOOZE BUTTON… my opinion: one of the worst inventions of all time is the Snooze Button on your alarm clock. It allows you to delay doing something that you said you were going to do. "Oh it's OK, I'll do it later". Worse than that… it encourages you to Break Your Word!!! When you "break your word" you erode your self-confidence. Why?… Because you have given yourself permission to underachieve – to do less than you originally planned. At the least you get less done, at the worst you suffer mentally because you know you cheated yourself. Some Salespeople hit the Snooze Button all day long. Nothing ever gets done when it's supposed to. To put it bluntly… hitting the Snooze Button is a form of laziness!
Here is your ACTION STEP…the reason we have a Daily Schedule is to tell us what to do and when to do it. The Snooze Button allows us to override that schedule and make excuses! The difference between success and failure is eliminating ALL excuses. Here is the solution:
1. Be clear on what it is you need to do and the best time of day to do it.
2. Keep your Daily Schedule highly visible so there is never any confusion.
3. Take a hammer and hit your personal Snooze Button 5 to 6 times so it is broken forever! Throw it away!
4. Always do the things you need to do when you need to/say you're going to do them. This is not negotiable….be your word and eliminate the options.
Two steps to redemption… #1. For the next 24 hours do an out of body survey… have a look at how many times you actually do hit the Snooze Button. Keep track of how frequently you are taking away from the Sales person you really are. #2. Go out and buy yourself a hammer and eliminate it forever. You are healed! Go out and buy one of those "That was Easy" buttons instead. LOL NO Excuses.
