Breaking Through Your Upper Limit

RAISE YOUR LIMIT… immediately after a recent performance on American Idol, judge Steven Tyler offered some inspiration to one of the contestants in his critique. His encouragement went like this, "All those notes you thought you couldn't sing… you just did!". The singer in question had just given the performance of her life! Mr. Tyler raises an interesting point… what Limitations are you placing on yourself that are entirely invalid? There is a terrific book called YOU2 by Price Pritchett that deals with this very point (his message is…"A High Velocity Formula for Multiplying Your Personal Effectiveness in Quantum Leaps"). There are ways to break through the Limits you have set on yourself.  Here is your ACTION PLAN… are you holding yourself back in certain areas of your Sales Performance because you have set Limits below what is possible for you? Things like… sales volume? objection handling? closing techniques?, etc., etc.? It is one thing to recognize that you should raise your limits, it is quite another to figure out how. Here are some ideas:  1. Start by reading/listening to inspirational material on a daily basis, it is OK to think bigger (the book "YOU2" would be a good place to start)  2. Accept the fact that if others are already doing it, so can you (NO Excuses)  3. Take on this mantra… "If you must doubt something, doubt your limits!"  4. Spend a lot of time with those who are doing more than you are  5. Stay away from people who are small thinkers… the ones who tell you that you can't do it  6. Become an "Affirmation Junkie"… repeat your possibilities out loud over and over 3 to 5 times a day. Fill up your tank, get pumped up!  The Limits you currently have are entirely self-imposed. The good news is that you can change them anytime you want! Start raising the bar today… How many extra contacts could you make? How many times more could you close? How many great people could you associate with? What great marketing ideas could you introduce? Take your foot "off the brake" and accelerate! NO Excuses.
