WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT YOU… is what defines the difference between you and your competition. What separates Starbucks from the competition is the high quality of their product and the consistency. That's what makes them unique. There are no surprises when you go there. You know exactly what you're going to get. If you liked their coffee the last time you were there, you will like it this time. To be a great Salesperson, there must be something about you that is Unique. One of my Coaching clients who earns approximately $1 million per year, every year…never misses prospecting three hours per day 220 days per year. He is incredibly consistent. That makes him unique. What allows you to stand out in the marketplace? Here is the key…there must be an easy way for your customers to differentiate between you and all the other Salespeople. That's what will make it easy to choose you.
Here is your ACTION STEP…some differences that Salespeople exhibit are highly visible and some are not. You need to make sure that your "uniqueness" is highly visible. Here are some ideas:
1. Your energy level, your enthusiasm
2. Your frequency of contact, you always stay in touch
3. The professionalism you portray
4. Your work ethic
5. Your ability to "get things done", you take action
6. Your superb Customer Service
Whatever your Unique item is, some days it will be harder than others for you to make it highly visible. For example, being extra cheerful on a day you have received a lot of rejection is not easy. That's where the "fake it until you make it" part comes in. Your customers are paying for their "perception" of who you are that day. It doesn'y matter to them how you feel inside. Be strong and keep your Uniqueness intact and highly visible. That's what sets you apart. NO Excuses!
