WORK RULES THAT WORK… best-selling author Richard Templar started off his very successful book series entitled ” The Rules of…” with the highly acclaimed “The Rules of Work”. In this first publication he shared 100 rules for how to operate successfully in a business environment. Most of Templar’s “rules” are based on common sense and support the basic principles of “cause and effect”. He discusses things like… walk your talk, use the golden rule, follow your plan, etc. It’s a great book, everyone in business should read it.
Here is your ACTION STEP… as highly productive Salespeople, there are some very specific “rules” we should follow. Everyone has their own rules, here’s some rules you may want to include in your day to day business life:
Rule #1. Getting up at the same time every day (meaning early).
Rule #2. Preparing your plan for the next day, do it the night before.
Rule #3. Having your monthly sales targets posted on the wall in your office.
Rule #4. Tracking your results daily/weekly vs. your targets.
Rule #5. Exposing yourself to inspiring material daily. Stay pumped!
Rule #6. Having a set schedule with daily prospecting at the top of your list.
The most successful Salespeople are highly focused and use their “rules” to keep themselves on track. On occasion these rules can be somewhat annoying… at the same time, the alternative (i.e.: underachieving) is a lot more annoying! Make sure your rules add up to success! NO Excuses.
