4 Steps to Get ‘er Done

FAULTY EXIT STRATEGY… in his book about relationships, Dr. Harville Hendrix does a great job of explaining "how creative we are in avoiding the things we do not want to do". He says we create "EXITS". These Exits take the form of alternative tasks…."stuff I just gotta do right now". We become very innovative in our avoidance. Here's the worst part…most of the time, these tasks that we let interrupt us are not nearly as important as the ones we are avoiding! Dr. Hendrix goes on to say, these Exits are just another form of EXCUSES. So what Exits are habitual in your life and your business? 

Here is your ACTION STEP… the first thing to recognize is that there are some negative habits (i.e.: Exits) that are getting in the way of your success. Once you have accepted that…here are some simple ideas on how to move forward: 

1. Identify the three or four CRITICAL tasks you must accomplish everyday. 

2. List the repetitive Exits that you introduce to sabotagie you. 

3.Think about the "fear factor" that is preventing you from doing the CRITICAL tasks. What is the worst that could happen? Usually it is… Not Much! 

4. Select  two Exits which would be the easiest for you to eliminate immediately. 

5. Be merciless with them… the next time they appear, ignore them entirely! 

Most people know when an Exit is an avoidance/excuse. Be brutally honest with yourself. Over time you will eliminate them all. So from now on, NO Excuses.
